Earlier 405 stuff - Accountability; Bureaucracy; Administration; Red Tape. I get it. The administrative side of things is long... tedious... incessant... anxiety-inducing, on occasion. It subtracts time from work I'd rather be doing. Perhaps, though, I'm just putting too much emphasis on getting my hands dirty - maybe this position is necessary so that others can do that.
Ideally, this would be my job description:
Connect Students and the Community.
I would have a ball.
I think it has something to do with an inner desire to be creative, innovative and influential. Which, I might suppose, would be my pining artistic side. Luckily, I can do some of that in this position -
First there was the Xaverian Weekly feature.
Plus, today I've been given the task to do something somewhat similar... aimed for Faculty. It's about the research grants (you wouldn't know much about that), and I'm essentially trying to do persuade professors to consider one of these grants. I'll be doing a pamphlet and using all sorts of rhetoric and flourish and that stuff. I'll have a really gushy student's perspective section too, because my assumption is that most professors do give a shit.
I have an intended audience and an intended effect... now I need to figure out how to do it.

the poor sucker who came after you would have no clue what end was up, your peers would have equal ignorance of a good portion of what you do and your boss would be utterly unable to make any account of your activities for her funder.
